Abstract
Background: Adolescents are an age group vulnerable to various health problems due to low health literacy and a lack of understanding of healthy lifestyles. Schools have a strategic role in supporting adolescent health through health education and the implementation of the Healthy School Movement.
Purpose: To improve adolescent health knowledge and literacy by strengthening the Healthy School Movement.
Method: This community service activity was conducted on April 30, 2026, at SMAN 2 Makassar, involving 17 students from the Student Council (OSIS) and the Youth Movement (RPM). The activity aimed to improve adolescent health literacy and strengthen students' understanding of healthy lifestyles through education on adolescent health services and strengthening the Healthy School Movement. The activity included interactive lectures, discussions, questions and answers, and the distribution of health education leaflets. Evaluation used pre- and post-tests to assess participants' knowledge before and after the education.
Results: The level of knowledge of respondents before the education activity was 41.1% in the good category, 47.1% in the sufficient category, and 11.8% in the poor category. Meanwhile, the level of knowledge of respondents after educational activities, all respondents were in the good category, namely 100%.
Conclusion: Education on youth-focused health services (PKPR) and the healthy school movement effectively increase students' knowledge and awareness in shaping lifestyle habits, character, and the foundation for a healthy future. This activity supports strengthening youth health literacy and the role of the Student Council (OSIS) and the Healthy School Movement (PMR) as health promotion agents in schools.
Suggestion: Schools are expected to integrate youth health education, youth-focused health services (PKPR), and the healthy school movement into routine school programs through OSIS and PMR activities, as well as health-based learning. Furthermore, ongoing collaboration between schools and community health centers is needed to provide education, health screenings, and youth health coaching to improve health literacy and encourage healthy lifestyles in students.
