Abstract

Background: Incorrect posture while working and lifting weights can overload the neck muscles, leading to neck tension, pain, and impeding functional activities. In Indonesia, approximately 16.6% of the adult population will complain of neck pain annually by 2023, with this incidence increasing with age in both men and women.

Purpose: To increase public awareness in Bandar Lampung about the importance of physiotherapy for neck stiffness and pain.

Method: A physiotherapy education and screening activity was conducted on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time) at the Adi Pura Monument Car Free Day in Bandar Lampung City. This activity was a physiotherapy education and screening for neck stiffness and pain. The research design used a case study with a one-group pre-test and post-test technique. Lecture and physiotherapy screening methods were used. Respondents in this education and screening were 35 residents of Bandar Lampung City. Educational materials were presented directly to the community, including explanations of the definition, signs and symptoms, causes, treatment, and education on neck stiffness and pain.

Results: The physiotherapy education and screening successfully increased the knowledge of the Bandar Lampung community and were beneficial for neck stiffness and pain. The physiotherapy education and screening achieved an average pre-test VAS score of 7 and a post-test VAS score of 2.

Conclusion: Physiotherapy education and screening for neck stiffness and pain have been proven effective in increasing knowledge and reducing pain among the people of Bandar Lampung City. The intervention not only demonstrated significant improvement in scores but also increased knowledge post-intervention.

Suggestion: Physiotherapy education and screening for neck stiffness and pain need to be implemented routinely and continuously, accompanied by periodic evaluations to monitor knowledge and prevent neck stiffness and pain in the people of Bandar Lampung City.

Pendahuluan: Postur tubuh yang salah saat bekerja dan mengangkat beban dapat memicu beban kerja otot bagian leher yang berlebihan sehingga dapat memicu ketegangan otot leher, nyeri leher serta menghambat aktivitas fungsional seseorang. Di Indonesia setiap tahun sekitar 16.6% populasi orang dewasa mengeluhkan nyeri leher pada tahun 2023, insiden ini meningkat dengan bertambahnya usia seseorang baik pada wanita dan laki-laki.

Tujuan: Meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat kota Bandar Lampung tentang pentingnya fisioterapi pada kondisi kaku dan nyeri leher.

Metode: Kegiatan edukasi dan skrining fisioterapi dilaksanakan pada hari minggu, 19 Oktober 2025 pada pukul 06.00-08.00 WIB berlokasi di Car Free Day tugu Adi Pura Kota Bandar Lampung. Kegiatan ini merupakan edukasi dan skrining fisioterapi pada kondisi kaku dan nyeri leher dengan desain penelitian case study dengan teknik one group pre-test dan post-test. Menggunakan metode ceramah, dan skrining fisioterapi. Responden dalam edukasi dan skrining ini adalah 35 masyarakat kota Bandar Lampung. Materi edukasi disajikan kepada masyarakat secara langsung yang memuat penjelasan defenisis, tanda dan gejala, penyebab, penanganan dan edukasi kaku serta nyeri pada bagian leher.

Hasil: Edukasi dan skrining fisioterapi berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat kota Bandar Lampung dan bermanfaat untuk kondisi kaku dan nyeri pada leher. Menunjukkan bahwa edukasi dan skrining fisioterapi mendapatkan skor rata-rata pre-test VAS 7 dan post-test VAS 2.

Simpulan: Edukasi dan skrining fisioterapi pada kondisi kaku dan nyeri leher terbukti efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat Kota Bandar Lampung serta menurunkan nyeri. Intervensi menunjukkan tidak hanya peningkatan skor yang signifikan, tetapi juga meningkatkan pengetahuan pasca intervensi.

Saran: Edukasi dan skrining fisioterapi pada kondisi kaku dan nyeri leher perlu dilaksanakan secara rutin dan berkelanjutan disertai evaluasi berkala guna memantau pengetahuan dan mencegah terjadinya kaku dan nyeri leher pada masyarakat Kota Bandar Lampung.
